Diabetes is one of the fastest growing illnesses affecting Americans today. So what exactly is it? Diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose levels are above normal, and your body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't use its own insulin as well as it should. This causes sugar to build up in your blood. Before a diagnosis of diabetes, you may notice that you need to urinate more often, feel unusually thirsty, have suddenly lost weight, or are feeling tired all the time.
How We Can Help
Add all that up, and you may think understanding and managing your diabetes will be overwhelming. It
does take a team of specialists to accurately diagnose, treat and help you manage diabetes. We have that team at the Mercy Diabetes Center, complete with physicians, nurse practitioners, certified diabetes educators, registered nurses, and dietitians.
