Second Robert J. Masterson Nursing Scholarship Awarded

    1/7/2015
Bob Masterson was a tireless advocate for family presence at the bedside in critical care at Mercy Hospital for more than thirty years. And so it was, in his honor, that Mercy Hospital established the Robert J. Masterson Nursing Scholarship to provide financial assistance to students attending a Maine college or university who, like Bob, aspire to one day work at the bedside in critical care
Erin Wadlinger, a student in the USM School of Nursing, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to assist with her studies. Erin is a senior nursing student at USM,who currently works as a tech in an Emergency Department. She is very interested in not only caring for the critically ill, but also being able to teach and support their families with empathy. In addition to her scholarship award she will be offered a preceptorship in the Mercy CCU.

The next round of scholarship applications will be available this spring with awards made for the fall semester.
