Gary’s House to celebrate 20 years serving patient families

An April 10 gala will kick off a year-long celebration for Gary’s House in recognition of its 20th anniversary. Gary’s House, which is operated by Mercy Hospital, provides a home away from home for families with hospitalized loved ones in the greater Portland area. The Gourmet Gala raises funds to support more than 400 families a year who need its quiet respite during a very difficult time.
The gala will feature some of Portland’s landmark restaurants like DiMillo’s and David’s, as well as newer restaurants like the BRGR Bar and Blue Fin North Atlantic Seafood, formerly Eve’s at the Portland Harbor Hotel. Chefs will provide delicious food, and Shipyard and Ice Pik Vodka will provide beverages. Guests will vote on their favorite dish.

Tom Hugill of Wyman’s of Maine will receive the Forsley Award, which recognizes a corporate citizen who has truly made a difference in the community and across the state. Hugill is a long-time supporter and volunteer at Gary’s House. A photo of Hugill is attached.

A highlight of the evening will be an auction that will feature an array of exciting items, including spa services, Red Sox tickets, restaurant gift cards, jewelry, and much more. New this year is the Great Escape Raffle, which provides attendees an opportunity to win two tickets aboard the Amtrak Downeaster; a round of golf for two (and $200 gift card) at the Samoset Resort; or two roundtrip tickets aboard Elite Airways.

Limited tickets to the event are available and can be purchased by calling 207-879-3144 or visiting the event webpage.
