    Mercy Hospital Welcomes New Neurosurgeon

    Mercy Hospital announced today that neurosurgeon Dr. Nicolas F. Arredondo has joined Maine Spine Surgery. Arredondo is a board-certified neurosurgeon and has received specialized training in complex spine and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He has expertise in traumatic, metastatic, and degenerative spine pathology.
     
    Arredondo joins a well-established Maine Spine Surgery team led by Drs. Lee Thibodeau and John Wahlig.  “We are thrilled that we were able to attract Dr. Arredondo to Maine,” said Thibodeau. “His spine expertise is exceeded only by his friendliness and compassion. He’s a perfect fit for our practice.”

    After graduating from Stanford University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, Arredondo earned his medical degree at the University of Texas in San Antonio. He completed a seven-year residency in neurological surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he pursued a fellowship in neuro-oncology at the Moffitt Cancer Center.  Prior to joining Maine Spine Surgery, Dr. Arredondo practiced as a general neurological surgeon at the Neurologic Institute of Savannah & Center for Spine in Savannah, Georgia. He previously served as director of the multi-specialty Providence St. Mary’s Neuroscience Institute in Washington.

    Dr. Arredondo is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgery, the Georgia Neurosurgical Society, the Southern Neurosurgical Society, the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, and the Society for Lateral Access Surgery. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
